i want to play the sims 2 on my computer and i am purchasing a new laptop. i want to know if the video card in this laptop will play the games because the video card in my current computer is the reason i cant play now

the new computer has an ATI Radeon x1200

the sims needs:
* A T&L-capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM.

Supported video cards:

* ATI Radeon(TM) series 8500 or better (9600 or greater required for Vista)
* 8500, All-In-Wonder 8500
* 9000, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800
* X300, X600, x700, X800, x850
* X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950

No, it will run, but you will get tons of errors, and horrible graphics - well, specifically, heads detached from bodies...

Basically two people who bought two laptops with x1200 graphic cards, tried playing the sims 2, and got the exact same problem.

If you still haven't closed the deal, look for a computer that features any of the cards listed as supported on the sims 2 site, or any from the 'Low End', 'Mid Range', or "Performance' Video Cards from the following site:

hate to say this but you answered your own question. look at the bottom line. x1300 x1600 etc. no mention of the x1200

the x1200 does have a memory thats ok but the chipset is not supported. i personally woud try to find a better chipset such as the x1800 or a 9600
if you decide to go for a desktop id go with a ati radeon 9700 or higher with agp2 or pcie i have the agp model and its pretty cool. it also has hdmi for true digital to lcd grpahics.

That is a pretty decent DX9 integrated graphics that would have no problem with the Sims 2.
