I need to choose a 19th century event (in America) that is unique so I can write a history report, any ideas?

The slave rebellion on the ship, La Amistad. There is a lot of information and a lot of famous people were involved in the defense of the slave rebels (like John Q Adams).
It's a really interesting story (and- there's a great movie directed by Spielberg about it, too).
