If the Cubs and their $300 million payroll blow the playoffs it will be, by angry fans.
But seriously, no. That ballpark is their bread and butter. If they moved to a new ballpark their fan base would drop like Bill Clinton's pants at a sorority house. Very few want to admit it, but the ballpark is their calling card. It's the reason all those tour buses line up and spew out thousands of fans from Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, etc. You think someone would come thousands of miles to see an aveage team that hasn't done diddly in almost 100 years in a boring ballpark in Arlington Heights?

The stadium is Landmark'd and a few years back when it experienced structural problems (like bricks falling) they reinforced it during the next off season rather than demolish it.

I don't think so....Chicagoans are too attached to it. Personally though, I think that they should tear the thing down...it's decrepit, ugly, outdated and falling apart...I hate going to games there!
