I want to do something with my dog breeding, but I don't know how to make the question look not so gross?

I'm in 8th grade Discoveries (gifted and talented program, hate that name...,) and we have to come up with a topic for our independent projects. I asked my teacher and she said that dog breeding is fine as long as I find a question that is not to vulger or something..... Can you help me please?

Why don't you discuss some of the problems that inbreeding or over breeding can cause.

Here are two examples:
German Shepherds. For years, these dogs were so popular that they were bred with hip problems. It was very bad for the breed. Now, all reputable breeders have the dogs' hips X-rayed to make sure they don't pass on the problems.

An example of over breeding deals with dalmatians. Every time Disney came out with a new Dalmatian movie, thousands of puppies were suddenly in demand with no thought as to whether they were appropriate for kids (they are not).

So, there were thousands of abandoned "adolescent" dals.

Hopefully that will help!

What about the probability of a female black dog and a male white dog having puppies. How many will be white? How many will be black? How many will be gray? Or the characteristics of the dogs. Such as long hair or short hair. Short legs or long legs. Something along these lines. Or something about all the different breeds of dogs that are in the hunting group, the terrier group, etc.

Maybe you could pose the question as "Does breeding pure breeds magnify hereditary defects?" Example, Sharpee's have skin disorders. I am not exactly sure what guidelines for your topic or what you need to prove or disprove but if you can come up with anything maybe this is the angle you should look at. Good luck!
