Let log mean log to base 3 in the following:-
y = 2 log (x - 4)
y / 2 = log (x - 4)
3^(y/2) = x - 4
x = 4 + 3^(y/2)

(y/2) = log(base 3) (x-4)

3^(y/2) = x-4

x = [ 3^(y/2)] + 4

PS: If that is what u are looking for... :)
