Need help with a math trick question!!?

Question

Suppose you are delivering mail in an office building. You leave the mailroom and enter the elevator next door. You go up 4 floors, down 7 and up 9 to the executive offices on the top floor. Then, you go down 6, up 2, and down 8 to the lobby on the first floor. What floor is the mailroom in? i got lost and can you some how show your work thanks

the mailroom is in 6th floor, on a 12th floor building.

letsay the mailroom is on x floor. you go up 4 floors that means x+4.

from there, you go down 7 floors : x+4-7 = x-3 <---u're 3 floors down from mailroom floor)

up 9 floors (top floors): x-3+9 = x+6

down 6 : x+6-6 = x <-----u're back at the mailroom floor

up 2 : x+2

down 8 (lobby) : x+2-8 = x-6

so, if you want to go back to the mailroom floor back, just go up 6 floors.

- 6 + 2 -8 = -12

The mailroom is six floors above the lobby - so seventh floor.

it's on the 7th floor - start with 7, add 4 - 7 + 9 - 6 + 2 - 8 = 1 first floor lobby. i figured it out by doing the math problem starting from zero, ending up with -6. so assuming that there aren't any basment floors, you go up 6 floors, but the floors don't start at zero, so you have to add one for the first floor.

well, I won't give you the answer, but start from the lobby, and work backwards..... so instead of going 8 down, go 8 up and etc. etc. and make sure you doi this drawing a picture of a building with at least 25 floors.... its easier to visualize it
