my kids were all breech until the LAST possible moment then all but one flipped before birth.

my last child (a son) that i delivered 2 weeks ago, at 35 weeks he was breech, 2 days later he flipped head down again, then at 37 weeks while being induced (for OTHER medical reasons, gestational diabetes and group B strep, and asthma) they checked my dilation and the nurse said she didn't feel the head. they checked w/ultrasound and sure enough he had flipped back over butt down.

my doc kept me overnight, and monitored. he never did flip back over again so the next morning my doc did an external version and had him head down. she immediately broke my water in order to get him out before he flipped over again, and 10 hrs later i delivered a healthy baby boy.

the external version can be painful but they gave me 2 medications. the first one was to relax my uterus, the 2nd one was to relax ME. i didn't really feel anything...just lots of pressure. if they couldn't have flipped him i would have had a C-section.
it depends on where you live whether or not a doc would allow you to deliver a breech baby. most docs in the US just don't do breech deliveries. i think this is mostly because they are taught that it's head down or surgery...which is sad, because a breech delivery is entirely possible, esp. if it's your 2nd or 3rd etc. baby.

talk w/your doc about it, and see if he/she is concerned.

Your baby can turn in any direction up to the day you give birth. I was watching the baby channel and they said that one way of the baby being breech is hard for the baby to turn and that is if the baby has a foot in the canal. It's harder for the baby to get out of that direction. My friend had several ultrasounds up to a few weeks before giving birth and each one showed the baby in breech position, but the day she gave birth the baby had turned and was good.

They can sometimes turn the baby. A lot of times the baby will turn around on it's own at the last minute. Was this your 36 week ultrasound? There is still time. It is possible that if the baby doesn't turn they may have to do a c-section. I'm sure everything will be fine either way. Good luck.

It does depend on how far along you are. Most ultrasounds are done way before you have to start worrying about the baby being in the right position. Before birth babies flip flop around a lot. Even if you're getting close to your due date and the baby still isn't head down there are things your doctor can do to help get them in the right position.

Good luck!

I had two breech births... with the first one, despite asking the doctor to check because I suspected I was carrying a breech baby, he refused to check and said I was just nervous because I was in my first pregnancy. When my water broke and I went to the hospital, lo and behold I had a breech presentation. Because my labor progressed so quickly and the doctor took two hours to show up and I was in hard labor, I was taken in for an emergency c-section. With the second breech pregnancy (my third baby) my doctor was very vigilant of it and monitored me for breech presentation. At 37 weeks, my baby finally turned to a head-down birthing position, but due to the late stage of my pregnancy the doctor scheduled an ultrasound for the next day just to be sure he had my due date correct. The next day in the ultrasound, my baby had turned back around to a breech presentaion... and of course, I went into labor 3 hours later. I was prepped for a cesarean at the hospital, but after a pelvic exam, my doctor's words were, "When I practiced in Europe, cesarean births were not the norm for breech deliveries, and having 2 little ones at home, a vaginal birth with a quick recovery would be much easier for you. It's your choice." So I chose vaginal, and they gave me an epidural, and I vaginally delivered my son in 3 pushes. Later I learned that my grandmother and great grandmother had delivered breech babies, so maybe check with family (on mom's side) to get an idea of what your delivery will be like. Best of luck, and just remember, the outcome will be a beautiful baby! :)

How far along are you? If you aren't close to being due, the baby will most likely turn. However, if the baby doesn't turn, the doctors may try to turn it by manipulating your belly with their hands, using ultrasound as a guide. This is done in the hospital, as it could cause you to go into labor. If the baby doesn't turn on its own, and the doctors cannot turn it, you may need to have a c-section. Delivering a baby feet-first could be difficult.
Good luck

Depends, how far along are you? So babies don't turn until the end. My son was still breech at 32 weeks. He turned some time between then and 35 weeks when I had an emergency c-section.

how far along are you? the baby can move around and change position many times before birth. ( ask my mom about that she was induced with me and they showed i was in position up in till the pushing started i shifted right before and came out left shoulder first.) no being breech today does not mean at time of labor the baby will be breech.

in many cases they don't make certain until eventually around 34-35 weeks. i might ask here time you have gotten an ultrasound. they'll furnish you a extra the closer you get or they do furnish you them extra often once you have problems. They did an ultrasound the day in the previous than our Daughter replaced into as quickly as introduced. She replaced into as quickly as breech, even nevertheless I additionally had many problems.i would not worry approximately it maximum suitable now thinking it is not central until eventually you get interior the process furnish. 20 weeks is option to early to even tell if the youngster would nicely be breech.

Your doctor would schedule you for a c-section if the baby doesn't turn by itself. The further along you are the less likely the baby is to turn as they have very little room to move, but you never know. If you are still in the 20wks mark, then the likelihood of the baby moving back up is pretty good. At this stage they still have quite a bit of room and the midwives and doctors have little tricks to get them to change position.

best of luck
