Katlin will be confused with Kaitlyn, as I think it may be a variation of that name. However, you are right about it being different and kinda neat.
I think that Gatlin could be a cute alternative, and sounds very similar to Katlin when spoken out loud. Unless Katlin is pronounced KAHT lin and not CAT lin, then I have no suggestions for similar sounding names. :-)
Just my two cents.

In this country with Kaitlyn being one of the most common girl names, naming your son Katlin is going to cause him a lot of grief. I agree the name is unique and compactly strong, but I'd not name a child something they're going to be teased about.

Def not! It's too close to Kaitlin. If you are thinking about naming your son this, you should consider how classmates/future employeers will react and try to pronounce the name. When you first look at it, it looks like Kaitlin. Also think about when his name is pronounced in front of hundreds at graduation and they accidentally say Kaitlin, how embarrassing would that be?!
Maybe you should do a name similar to it like Kayden or Cayden.

I know a girl from a tiny town in Georgia and her name is Catlynn. She's totally sweet and has this awesome country accent. So... to me, Katlin, Catlynn is definitely a girl's name.

I'm not very fond of it. It's too much like Caitlin and that name, while pretty, is too common nowadays. Also, like others have pointed out....he would be called Kate lin all his life and being called a girl's name in school...he would be tortured.

It seems more like a girl's name and it is not much fun to have people wondering, especially if they see or hear your name before they meet you.
My name included (Chris), I am not really fond of names that are kind of iffy as to if it is a boy or a girl. Pat, Sam, Alex, Jordan, Morgan, Aaron (Erin), etc.

I like the name, however when most people see it I am pretty sure they would pronounce it Kate-lin and that would be way too girly.

I am sure you want to do what is best for your baby so I would not use that name. He will be made fun of and in today's world you don't want to give mean kids any ammo to use against your child. It is really sad in today's schools.

Definately not a boys name at all. Too similar to Kaitlin and he would be so teased.
