Here is an excerpt from that article.

The transcript published by the Jerusalem Post bore scant resemblance to the one that in 1967 rolled off the teletype machine behind the sealed vault door at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, where Steve Forslund worked as an intelligence analyst for the 544th Air Reconnaissance Technical Wing, then the highest-level strategic planning office in the Air Force.

"The ground control station stated that the target was American and for the aircraft to confirm it," Forslund recalled. "The aircraft did confirm the identity of the target as American, by the American flag.

"The ground control station ordered the aircraft to attack and sink the target and ensure they left no survivors."

Beats me. But, the attack on the Liberty was intentional. The ship had gathered and recorded military signals that showed the Israelis had engaged in pre-emptive attacks in the Six Day War. As it mentions in the article, there is no way that the Liberty, with its unusual antenna array, could ever be mistaken for a freighter or even a cargo ship engaged in the amphibious landing of troops. All of the ships in the Special Project Fleet (including my own) stuck out like a sore thumb, despite the NSA and the Navy trying to make them look like benign "research" vessels.

Let's see. The Tribune may have copyrighted the story, which means other papers can't run it. Therefore, we won't hear more about it unless there are developments aboui the story.

Plus, the story is 40 years old. So, it's obviously not breaking news and may have trouble getting noticed in some newspapers.

you know there has been so many cover ups time and again. It's possible that the plane may had been hijacked by the Israelis. But the story behind it? Who knows. This is such an old story.
