I don't think its fair personally. It makes women (and other people who benifit from it) less equal.

Theres nothing empowering about reciving someones pity handouts.

Affirmative action would not recommend that a guy or woman who's way less qualified gets the job. that's some greater paranoid ideals of people who're afraid of dropping their privilege. Affirmative action Affirmative action refers to concrete steps that are taken no longer in basic terms to get rid of discrimination—no remember if in employment, training, or contracting—yet in addition to attempt to redress the outcomes of previous discrimination. The underlying purpose for affirmative action is the Constitutional theory of equivalent danger, which holds that anybody persons have the impressive to equivalent get admission to to self-progression. In different words, persons with equivalent information could have equivalent possibilities.

Affirmative action is fine as long as it is not the first priority or only factor when favoring that particular person or group. For example - recruitment of judges. Its wonderful to have a female voice, point of view and thinking on the bench as a judge for particular matters, but that she's a female should not be the only factor as it would undermine the the whole legal system and appointment of judicial officers.

In my humble opinion, consideration should naturally be given to other issues and when that's all done and there is still enough space for the matter of gender, race, minorities to be given affirmative action to, then we should do it.

Otherwise, its just taking affirmative action too far.

It sounds like all you know about affirmative action is what's been the topic of the day (what's being talked about most concerning affirmative action): quotas. Maybe it would surprise you to know that there are several models of affirmative action (six, I believe), and only two of those models have anything to do with quotas. The rest, (which are more widely used) are models that promote awareness of prejudice and discrimination in the workplace (namely in hiring and firing practices), and the use of these models forces a company or organization to take a good look at how they operate and decide whether or not they've been discriminating against anyone directly or indirectly. Affirmative action is not "all bad." Quotas, on the other hand, are models of affirmative action that can result in reverse discrimination, and so I agree that these are unfair. Before you condemn all the models of affirmative action, you really ought to educate yourself on what they are and what they do. The most widely practiced of all the models have nothing to do with quotas.

That's how I feel about it now. It was a substantial help when it was first introduced, but if someone needs a quota to get a job, they ought to take a good, long look at their merit.

We are tougher than that as women and will be sucessful in life on our own merits. We don't need affirmative action!

That said, women have been taken advantage of for eons. This is STILL happening in business. In the past year I worked for a company that condoned sex discrimination in the office. It was so blatant that it would be easy to file a lawsuit against them and recoup millions! I simply quit because I wouldn't work for such an unscruplious company. They don't deserve me! It is documented that women do more work and get paid less than men.

But it doesn't matter, more women are attending college than men, more women are starting their own businesses than men. Look at this country in 50 years........it will be a woman dominated country!

And as far as Doc Rudy? Most likely an impotent old fart who has to use viagra and pay for sex. But, Doc Rudy when you die and go to meet your maker, She will judge you harshly for your bigotry!

Most feminists adore affirmative action.

That's a no-brainer.

I'm not a feminist, but I like affirmative action. It means that I have to interview all the chicks that apply. Sure some are ugly but I just tell them the position is filled and move on to the hotter ones.
