What type of foods do American like?
My husband and I are hosting a party next weekend, we eat asian food at home, because we're both asians.
I'm thinking they prefer Italian, but my husband said barbecue?
Our guests are white and asian mixed, thanks

I would do like pork chops with fried apples, mashed potatoes, green beans, with a cake or pie of some kind for dessert, oh if there is an Olive Garden restaurant by you, go buy one of their ter-a-mu-sue (sp?) one whole one is only like $40 and I think it will serve 9 to 12 people. It is great with after dinner coffee!! You just need to let it thaw for a couple of hours.

Well a bbq will give you more options!! You can do hot dogs, ribs, hamburgers, brats.. all kinds of things, so it gives your guests more of a variety to pick from (not that you would do all of them, but you can have a selection).
Italian is popular but my hubby is one that doesn't really prefer it, I don't think it would be as popular as a bbq.
So I vote for a bbq.
Potato salad, pasta salads, cole slaw and corn on the cob are things that go good with a bbq.
If you look on line for instructions you can even make corn on the cob on the grill!! It comes out really good!!

You should serve them what you normally eat as that would be a special treat to them. Go with what makes you feel comfortable and don't try to cook something you're not familiar with. Good luck on your party and just be yourself and they'll appreciate your effort. I'm white and prefer Asian food. Just be yourself and let the day go comfortably.

Since you say there is a mix among the friends. I would say go with Asian and some barbecue.

Italian sounds good. But I think American's dig grilled burgers hotdogs. But don't forget about the vegetarians.

OK now that I have ruined ur appetite....I love BBQ'd rib eye steaks, cooked with Montreal Steak spice on them. Now I am hungry and forgotten about those little critters.

BBQ's are always nice. Some burgers, hot dogs, maybe some steaks.
