Whats going on with Michigan? Were falling apart slowly and were just sitting here, its like an abandoned state. I love Michigan and have lived here all my life and feel helpless, I feel like theres nothing i can do to help. I've been wondering why there has been no riots yet, or why Granholm has not been impeached yet. She just threw the state down the toilet. Kilpatrick is in trouble with the law at least once a year, just to let you know hes the mayor of Detroit, hes done absolutely nothing to help or rebuild Detroit. Why is the government ignoring this mess we live in? How cant hey sleep knowing we live a disaster. We deserve better then this.

Michigan is the new Mississippi. Unemployment is 7.2%, Mississippi is only 5.9%. And who do they all blame? G.W. Bush. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. You ask why the government is ignoring the mess you're in. The government IS the mess you're in. I'm sorry, but its all the democrats' fault. You need some repulicans with guts. The republicans should have let the government shut down. They should have forced Jenny's hand. Sure, they may have been thrown out of office for it, but they're going to be thrown out anyway!
Michigan needs a leader, a republican like John Engler. Someone who'll start throwing people off of welfare. Someone who'll cut taxes TO THE BONE. You should repeal that stupid 10 cents a can law. Its costing the state money. You should raise the toll on the Macinaw bridge to $20. If people don't want to pay it, let them drive around lake Michigan, or take a ferry. They should legalize prostitution in Detroit, and tax it $20 per trick. They should pass a right to work law, and make the state business friendly. They should eliminate the state income tax. They should look into selling water to other states. Michigan could be a very prosperous state, but there's too much corruption, to many democrats, too many liberals. They should cut teacher's pay. Why should teachers in Michigan be the third highest paid in the country? Anytime teachers go on strike, they should all be fired, like Reagan fired the air traffic controllers.
Michigan needs some really radical changes. If things are this bad in Michigan now, when the economy is doing great, how will it be when the economy takes a downturn?
On the plus side, Michigan is showing the rest of the country what will happen when Mrs. B.J. Clinton is elected president.

The government is ignoring the mess of Michigan because it does not effect them. They have money, they don't care about the masses. That's why they can sleep at night. Things have gotten bad, but until most people in the state are out of jobs, I don't think there will be any rioting.

no matter what engler did one thing was clear we had jobs!!!,aunt jenny has raised our already too high taxes to extreme high levels, another company in Menton is shifting to Mexico, cutting 200 jobs, she has cut my local schools, police, fire, farm subsidary, and shifted the money back into the welfare program,I don't like her, nevr have ,never will,I don't know much about Kilpatrick,we have our own problems on the west side of the state,so I don't pay alot of attention to Detroits problems.

It amazes me you people forget how much Engler screwed this state before he left office!
He left a record deficit the year he left office!
If he was such a great leader for michigan why did he leave state as soon as he left office?
Kilpatrick is a jerk who should have never been elected mayor!

You mean you're not happy because they just "balanced" the budget by raising taxes and promising to cut spending, especially in a state that has the highest unemployment in the nation?
Makes you long for Engler, doesn't it? Jenny may have just blown any chance she ever had of succeeding Carl Levin in the Senate.

You can thank your state government for the sorry state of affairs. They need to lower taxes dramatically, and eliminate them for businesses. You need jobs there, not social programs.
