My motto in life would be!

ITS ALWAYS BEEN NICE TO HAVE LOTS OF OPTIONS

I really hate people saying, you caught me off guard, I dont have a choice but to do this, and do that.

Yes, its really necessary to have at least 1 motto in life, that is your life and its only you who will control of your life and nobody elses. Believe me, in every situation, you always have a choice.

My 2nd motto; PAY IT FORWARD POSITIVELY

If a person do good for you then do good to others and if someone do something bad to you then still do good to others.

No, it's not, there's too many and a lot of the best turn to cliche'. A buddy of mine has one in his email signature block that says "keep it simple because simple is hard enough." I really like that. I can identify, but would I put it on my bumper or say it in front of a crowd? No. It sucks the intelligence from you.

Rango: In each of your instances, you're still the bug. Very negative. I'm not. "Some days you get the bear, and somedays the bear get's you" is much mo bettah.

Gwenkimc: you get the award for bitterness. I hope you teach your kids that "respect is a two way street"

no not necessary, but i have 4 mottos. esp the last one.

1-everything happens for a reason.

2-the good has to balance out the bad.

3-stand up for yourself and what you believe in. always.

4-live in a way, so that when you die, people can look at your life and say "da**, this one definatly knew how to leave a mark on their world".

Its necessary to have a motto in life and you have to change accordingly to how old you are.

For a child could be "play all time", for a teenager "have a girlfriend and enjoy youth", for an adult could be "be someone in the professional life" and for an old people could be "remember good times and live your life fully".

My motto used to be: Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse. I still like the motto, but I am a little too old to die young now. Can still leave a beautiful corpse though. LOL.

Don't know that it's NECESSARY, but, for me, it's served me well, to remember one:

"Nobody EVER has to be nice to you".

I've lived rich, I've lived poor...alone, married, divorced, sick, well, childless and wanting, too many children and with PostPartum Psychosis and a therapist husband who wouldn't change a diaper because he was too busy putting the "bra" on his red sportscar and taking OFF the one on his nubile galpal.

I'm happiest, remembering that I don't have a right to do "Victim-Martyr", about my "right" to be treated special...So I teach my now preteen girls this motto.

I like to collect inspirational sayings, quotes, etc. On a chilly day they can warm me up. You don't have to have one. You can have different ones at different times in your life, or like me, use one one day and another the next.

Basically tho, for overall:

1)Have as much joy in my life as possible.

2) Help where I can in life.

3) Base my morality on compassion. If I'm going to err, I'd rather err on the side of compassion, and that starts with me and goes outward.

It's not absolutely necessary, and you can live by many motto's!

"A life with love will have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses..."
(Yeah corny, I know, but I love it!)
