Upon several verfications, it has been discovered that I am a descendent of a Roman beggar named Flatulus. Proudly, through exhaustive research, I can proclaim that Flatulus was one of the very few Roman citizens who had NO hand and NO role whatsoever in the rise and fall of the Roman empire. He simply was.
He DID, however, sell pencils. Business was terrible because no one had heard of a pencil, so I guess you could consider him a true revolutionary. I guess.
But I digress. His important non existent role within the Roman Empire will be proudly expounded upon in a PBS documentary entitled "I Farticus". (I have no idea how he got the nickname, just that historian Ben Dover constantly refers to him as such throughout the documentary)
I hope this sheds some light on the question

In my family tree, there was the first female mayor of Portland, Oregon, an man who got a million dollar land grant (at Revolutionary War prices) in Pennsylvania because he was a 'double agent' during the war, and a horse thief who was hanged. THAT was so funny ... but my first husband was a direct descendent of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. I like my 'French-Scot Artist' husband better, and his dad ran away from home and changed his name as a child ...

He's not a WHO, he's a he. And he's Uncle Shaggy to us. Just because he has all that hair and the really big feet is no reason for you to chase him up the tree. Besides, who said you could come over and look in the tree.
