I'd definitely have to go with Le Shok - they were such a good punk band! They never released anything beyond "We Are Electrocution" in 2000. I believe, prior to signing with Gold Standard Laboratories, they released a few 7" records under various smaller labels ... and a singles collection has supposedly been in the works for years, but it'll probably never happen ...
Which is A real bummer! It's also a shame that not too many people know about 'em either.

Give it a third vote on The Amps. Kim Deal and Co. put out a great one.
My other one-album wonder is "Rusty" by Rodan, perfect math-rock accomplishment from Louisville.
Damn, I think I have that Deconstruction cassette somewhere in my tape cooler but for the life of me can't remember what it sounds like. I do remeber that Steven Perkins was drumming on it though.

For me, Thunderclap Newman, and despite only being together for a brief time and having only one album, they really hit it big with Something in the Air... the song's incrediably famous.
I can't recall another band that only had one studio album... several that only had only two though...
*edit
I do wonder if people acually read additional details before they answer a question. It's quite important....

I'd like to throw another vote towards the Amps. That was a really great group. It's a real shame more people don't know about them. I'd stack that record up against any of the Breeders ones.
Wasn't it because Kelley Deal was in rehab or something like that?

The Immediate. You probably haven't heard of them, they were a really amazing alternative/indie band from Ireland who released a really great album back in 2005, "In Towers and Clouds" and then split up shortly after. They're definitely worth checking out if you don't know them.

Definitely The Throbs whose only album Vagabonds and Thieves was one of my all time fave albums. What happen to them? I mean they were produced by Bob Ezrin who is a legend in rock music as far as producers go...so what happen to them? Anyone know?

As far as I know, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that Every Time I Die has only released one album so far, and it's pretty good. Especially the vocalist.
