Ok, well it's my senior year and I'm going to go to homecoming for the first time ever. Should I just rent a dress since this is the only time I'll ever wear it, most likely. Or should I just go ahead and buy a dress?

omg...I'm not going to look for a dress through a rummage sale. The cost for renting a dress is normally $80 at a shop over here. Buying is a couple hundred...but maybe I'm thinking too formal?

Thanks Leia V
Your answer was really helpful...I think I was thinking too formal. I've seriously never been to a homecoming so I have no idea what to pick out, but I think I will go with something more casual and trendy now. That's not expensive and is also reusable.

renting might be a good idea since you are just wearing it once but in my experience the only dresses for rent are pretty formal, like prom or pageant dresses. i havent been to a homecoming in years but im willing to bet that any dress that you can rent is gonna be too formal for the occasion. I would try finding something less expensive that is trendy and possibly something you can wear again. Im almost certain that these events have become more casual these days.

It depends on how much to rent vs. the cost of a new dress.
You could also run an ad in your local paper to see if anyone has your dress your size and check out rummage sales around town.

I would rent if you aren't planning on wearing it again. Hope you find a nice dress
