HI, I too received same cheque from John Smith of Indy Mac Bank,CA... why this is happeing to every body? does any one really get benefitted by this.

Is it a Fraud.. or any body dared to go forward ...
I too understand that once they know the bank details they can very well pay with our accounts and even sweep off... right!!!

OK waiting for reply on this either good or bad

There's so many of these scams because people fall for it. It's unbelievable how many people cash the checks and then blame the bank.

I would say if your getting checks in the mail, that you have no connection to the company 99.99% of the time its fraud. I am guessing they are asking you to wire or send them back part of the check as membership fees or something of that nature. At the very least, you should call the bank of account and they should be able to verify whether its a valid check due to the check number, history of the account or even if their is an account with the account number at that bank. NEVER CASH OR DEPOSIT A CHECK FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE . people do not just send you money for no reason if you did not apply or enter something for this chances are this is fraud. it may be fraud even if you did enter a contest or something. i've been in banking for seven years and every case of a mysterious check in the mail has alway been fraud.

fraud is a common answer but there are some sites that will give you some money go ti www.cj.com to learn about a few of them.

There are no free rides!!!!!

to learn about frauds, go to www.paypal.com and read about the ways the frauds work. there are many ways including:

Giving your account number and name and address with some kind of password. (they will find out who you are and use your account to fraud others....)

search yahoo and the word : fraud you won lottery etc...

it is a scam AND if u deposit it YOU will be prosecuted for bank fraud/theft.
burn it up tonite.
