I don't know if I should go this year. Last year when I was 12 I went, and this lady thought I was older and didn't give me candy. She said I was 'Too old for this, I need to grow up!'
I'm worried that it'll happen again..
Should I go this year, but to a different neighborhood or something? I'm 13 now, and I look the same as I did last year. I thought that it was for everyone?

I was going to go with my group of 5 friends and our little brothers and sisters. Is that ok?

Your not really old, the kids that came to my house were all the way to 18 and still trick-or-treating, so you're fine. Have fun!

I have no intention of getting best answer here since I am basically just repeating what everyone else said before me. I just wanted to reply and let you know that you should not let what one person said take something fun like this away from you. Now, if you were out of HS and wanted to go, I would say you are too old. But, for one thing you are bringing littler kids with you, therefore you are doing a service going with them. Please don't let some old hag take this away from you, it will be regretted if you do, trust me! If you are feeling like you are too old, make this your last year. I wanted to quit before middle school, but then my friends convinced me to go.
Oh, and I'm not going to lie... the same thing happened when I was a senior in high school. Now, talk about too old! The costumes were awesome though. So cool that two houses invited us in to take pictures. Anyway, live life while you are young and can!

I think you're the only one that can answer your own question.
What do you think, are you too old for the Great American Traditional Hunt for Tricks or Treats? The next great candy bar could be-hide that next door bell ring!
If you can't seen to give it up just yet, there is always rent a kid. You supervise a close friends little sister or brother and ask for 10% of the booty! That's one way to keep the thrill of the game alive!!!!! (lol just an idea)

No!
You should not go to a different neighborhood! you are only a kid once, and you should have fun with it. I was 13 last year, and now I'm 14 and I'm going to go no matter what!
Ignore those people. Say "Fine, I dont need your candy! There are many more hoousess around!"
OR just grrab into there bucket of candy and run! :]
hahaha.
Naww..
Just try to tthe next house. No biggie. :]
I had that happened to me once, she said "Arent you a little to old to be out trick-or-treating?" and I said, "Aren't you a little to old to be making snobby comments at kids that are just trying to live there life and have fun?"
I still got lots of candy. :] 976 pieces!! :]

The majority of people handing out candy enjoy seeing people of all ages go trick-or-treating. I get over a hundred trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood and probably a third of them are teens. Even the parents collect. I personally enjoy seeing people of all ages get out there. I think the only thing I don't like to see are people without costumes who are rude and just stand there without even saying trick-or-treat and thank you.
There will always be people who are more conservative about the holiday and only want to hand out their candy to little kids. Tough luck. Just brush off those "aren't you a little too old" comments. If you remember the lady's house who told you that, just skip it.
Check out my question where I asked people for good comebacks for the "aren't you too old to be trick-or-treating" response:

You should never go trick and treating out of your neighborhood. If you are questioning if you are too old....then you are probably too old. Sorry, it has to end some time. Why don't you and your friends ( and other friends in your age group ) plan a Halloween party?

I stopped when I was 11. 13 isn't too old but I never give candy to kids in high school.

Jeez, that lady was mean! She has no right to tell people that! You should definitely go trick-or-treating! It's fun and you get candy! Try being something that is cool and mature in it's own way. Maybe a somebody from TV?

Wow, someone actually said that? That was mean.
My sister last went at 14 with a friend...and I had no plans...they dragged me along, I was 20! LOL!
Plenty of people in their young 20s even go as a "chaperon" with younger kids that still shouldn't go alone...they are such a good excuse to get to do it still.
Eh...either wear a mask, skip that house, or find a younger kid to take around with you.
