Why? Because they lost last night? Yes, they have had some disappointing playoffs, but they get there every year. If they were overrated, they would not have made the playoffs thirteen consecutive years now. If you want to talk overrated, then you can say experience is overrated. In fact, even Derek Jeter has said that Anaheim in '02, Florida in '03, and Detroit last year had no experience, and that experience is no big deal. The team that plays best wins. The Yankees have always been the best team, but in a short series, the lesser team can win if it gets hot and can use its best pitchers. Also you said something very stupid. The Yankees HAVE accomplished something. They came from 14 1/2 back to 1 1/2 at one point before finishing 3 games back. They were 9 1/2 games behind in the wild card to win it, when ESPN and Yankee haters had said they were dead. I'd say it's an accomplishment to be 21-29, re-tool with younger players and finish 94-68, but I guess you can't see that through your obvious Yankee hatred.
Also, I don't know why I answered this question, considering I see it about 10 times a week.

I don't know about sports, but I do think they are the most overrated team in baseball(mostly cuz I'm not a Yankee fan.)Remember in the 2004 ALCS against Boston? Everyone kept talking about how the Yankees had dominant hitting and more experienced pitchers. What happened? The Yankees blew a 3-0 series lead. They can't finish opponents off like they used to.

I don't think they're overrated. They're a very good team. Their pitching is pretty thin, but they can sure enough hit. (tonight's game notwithstanding). They've played real solid baseball since the first of June and they have one of the best managers in the business. What the Yankees are is waaaaay overhyped. They have the most fans and the most anti-fans of any team in the game. They have a long, proud history (yeah, I get tired of their fans carping on "26 World Championships", too, but what can you do?). They play in the biggest market in the country and are covered by the biggest tabloids in the country. They're bigger than life and it does get annoying. But they're not overrated. They're going down, but it won't be because they don't show up. They'll flat out get beat.

They are at or near the top every year so how can they be overrated? No matter how good you are any MLB team can be beaten by any other team on any given day but the Yankees are always in the mix, and that is the sign of a great franchise.

If you knew anything at all, you'd know that the Yankees won the first game against the Tigers last year and then lost the series in 4 games. So shut up until the series is over.

Well, at this point its either the San Diego Chargers or the Dallas Cowboys. San Diego- underperforming. Dallas- Good start but will end up a bust just like last year when they get to the thick of their schedule. But the Yanks are up there.

I don't know...The Lakers are up there. And USC football. I mean the media practically promises a championship for them ever year before the season even starts...OF course the media does that with The Yankees too...Ya, I think NY YAnks are pretty damn over-rated..

joe. yes. the yankees are over-rated but they are not a bad team. its just that everyone always assumes the yankees are a great team and they are not right now. they are a great offensive team but their pitching is mediocre.
