No, you would not have to deal with copyright issues. Unless you were charging for admission or did name it "THE HAUNTED MANSION: A COPY FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES". Also, there are a lot of houses that, coincidentally, look like the Haunted Mansions. Who's to say that maybe yours wasn't one of those? You can make it look like it, just do not copy the EXACT floor plan. That would be very hard and expensive to do anyway, because you would need a very large lot.

I have always wanted to live in the Haunted Mansion too! But, I would be afraid of some of those ghosts. And, I couldn't imagine myself living on a lot with a graveyard. Great idea though, and that would be great for Halloween parties! You could probably make a slide show with moving ghosts for when you have company and project it into the rooms of your victims (I mean, guests lol). Good luck, and please do tell me how it turns out!

Check out the The Architectural Works Copyright Protection Act of 1990.

You could build a house in the style of the Haunted Mansion, but using the plans or drawings used on Disney's Haunted House without permission would be where you'd get into hot water.

One man did just that: built a replica of The Haunted Mansion. I believe it is outside of Atlanta.

Check the link for info about Mark Hurt, former Imagineer, and his Mansion.

Yes, of course you could... The "Haunted Mansion" at Disneyland is modeled after a southern mansion ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Haunted_Mansion%2C_Disneyland_2002.jpg) , the Disney World version is a Gothic Revival facade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:The_Haunted_Mansion_%28Magic_Kingdom%2C_Walt_Disney_World%29.jpg ).

Disney Paris has my favorite style for this type of building, it is a very popular style from the late 1800's... A Victorian with Mansard Roof (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Phantom_Manor_Paris.jpg )

Disney COPIED them... they aren't copyrighted.

IF you want to do the INSIDE the same, you would have troubles only if you tried to charge admission I would guess.

GOOD LUCK.

I don't think you would be able to build an exact copy.....so you would be fine....as long as you didn't name it Disneyland Haunted Mansion

yeah... i'm sure you could...

And i don't think you'd need disneys permission unless you intended to use it to make money or as a tourist attraction. If its just to live in, I don't see why permission would be need.

Me thinks it would be expensive though.
