lol, please tell me, i want to meet new people, i am in college and need to make new friends, what is a the coolest way to make friends without looking like i am trying too hard?

You can't make friends in a day. Those would be referred to as your acquaintances. In order to make friends it takes time. You need to be true to yourself, be a good listener, and be supportive. Find people that generally share your goals, beliefs, and interests. Choose friends who can be considerate, understanding, and appreciative of your differences.

I like to randomly say hi to people as they walk by lol. I have already made friends by doing that.
