The construction work done on our building was kind of shoddy. There's a huge gap where the air conditioner was installed that looks straight to outside. I swear I can hear people outside (and down 3 floors) clear as day through the outlet by my bed. Anyway, the point is the centipedes have overtaken my apartment, presumably through these various gaps to the outside world. Can I caulk these spaces? What would you recommend? My realty company is sloooow and I want to take care of this problem quickly, but don't want to do something permanent to my apartment that I may get in trouble for (read: charged for) later. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Forget any kind of herbal treatment and get yourself a can of Raid from Wal-Mart, that will shrivel them right up, and now.

I don't want to suggest caulking and get you in trouble but that would work best, so I will suggest getting a small amount of fiberglass insulation and packing it in where-ever there's an opening, it'll help stop the noises also.
Get this from a hardware store or Home Depot and use a screw driver to pack it in so it's not unsightly. Spry in these areas first to stop any invasions.
Centipedes do bite and they can hurt, like a bee.

well I never had centipedes but I know peppermint oil from a herb store... chases a lot of things away/ also you might was to put some dish detergent in areas they are coming in and see if that works. Also yes caulk any opening to close up areas that let any bug come in. Hope this works. I use peppermint oil on everything including chasing mice away and pain... GL

If your apartment is a government
subsidized building, then call the
Housing Urban Developement, (HUD)

If it is not, then call the Federal Housing
Accociation, (FHA) Or you can get a
lawyer, and go on rent strike until they
fix it.

i'm uncertain what else you like performed. the chief is being responsive, the exterminators are there attempting to do their job. wanting hiring a wizard to come back and magically lead them to pass away, i do no longer understand what else could nicely be performed.

you should tell the landlord you want this problem taken care of our you will take him to court. you pay the rent, he should do his part (taking care of the facility).
