Race?
A 1996 or 1997 BMW M3 vs. Early '90s Nissan 240.

M3 is immaculate (about 50k on it), Nissan is a not so nice..

Suggests on who would win?

BUT I am not sure if the 240s come with turbo stock, but the Nissan has engine work done to it.

Is the 240 a 6 cylinder? And even if it was twin turbo would it have a chance?

Why I ask is I know a couple guys who have these cars and they want to put money on a race, and I was just wondering.. thanks for the info guys!

I am a nissan tech. GO BMW if you can afford big costly maintence and if something fails. You will know BMW stands for Burn My Wallet! Buy a 11/12 year old M-3 or 16/17 year old 240SX . In line 6cyl or whimpy 12 valve 4 cyl. Recaro seats or weird cloth with springs showing on the sides hole in the head rest? Limited slip differential or Nissan Open diff. Manual 5 speed M-3 or nissan? Either car can soak up thousands of dollars. So be careful join the BMWCCA and talk BMW'S with club members you migh fine one you cannot close the glove box because of the maintence receipts owned by a retired doctor who just purchased 2007 M-6 with a carbon fibre roof!

The M3 would smoke the 350Z. Even though the hp figures are roughly the same (333hp for old M3, 306hp for 2007 350Z), the m3's straight line performance is way better than that of the 350Z. For example: the m3 goes to 60mph in 4.8 sec and a quarter mile at 13.4, while the 350z goes to 60 in 5.2 and a quarter at 13.7. The handling of the M3 is just as good as the 350Z's. The M3 is now outofproduction, but a relatively new one costs more than a 350z. The higher price results in much better quality inside. The Nissan's headrest stakes poke your head when you lean back, but the BMW doesn't have anything like that. If you can afford an M3, I would advise you to wait for the new M3 with a 420 hp V8. The 350z coupe goes for around $35K, while the convertible can run for around $43K. A 2006 (last year) M3 started just under $50K new. On the contrary, a new RS4 can starts at almost 70 grand, while the slower-than-the-M3 S4 (slower by halfasecond thru 60mph) starts at just under $50K as well. Considering the better build quality, fit and finish, as well as the performance, the German cars are an overall better deal if it doesn't break your wallet. The 2008 M3 with the 420 hp V8 is priced a little less than the RS4 in the UK.

M3 would probably win. But in the end your wallet would lose.
I am still bias since I drive a 240 sx 1992 . I paid 300.00 for it and It has 211k on it It is cheap to keep and in demand. I have maybe 2k in it and know I could make money if I sold it.
Its lowered and I have added exhaust and intake.A friend at a body shop put on a new fender and painted the front end It looks like new and runs perfect. I drive a mountain road every day and get 25 miles to the gallon, you should check e bay and see all the upgrades you can do. I am going to keep doing mod's till there are none left to do. Its cheap to keep and a blast to drive and it is a car not every yuppie drives Ya I am not a kid but when I drive it I feel like one
