Ok ppl just to clarify.....I am a medical student. You are right HPV is a virus, but is also THE MOST COMMON STD, b/c it mainly is transmitted sexually. I am needing personal experiances, not research material. I know what HPV is and just to educate some of u, just b/c there are no visable signs, doesnt mean that u dont have it. Some ppl are carriers and never show any symptoms. I was just hoping that you would help me with a research paper that i am writing.

I'll get personal, what the hell.
I tested postive for HPV.( the strain that doesnt carry genital warts.. thank god) And I tested postive for severe cerical displaysia as well. I needed to get a LEEP procedure for that.. and lets hope all those pre-cancerous cells are gone.
But I did have systoms.. sex was EXTREMELY painful for me. And I bleed every single time after sex. And i also the right side of my vagina hurt during sex.
But after the LEEP and I was all healed up Im fine. No pain or bleeding!

HPV is an STD because it is a sexually transmitted disease. You can get HPV from oral sex too. Having sex with a condom does not guarantee that u will not catch it because it can be transmitted on skin contact. I read an article that men with HPV can get anal cancer. (more common in the gay community). I just want to educate the people who say that HPV is not a STD. BTW HPV is not curable.

First, HPV is not an STD. And it is so common. Experts have done more research so we are hearing more about it, but it has always been there.
I have HPV, and my doctor constantly assures me that it is okay. I get paps every 3 mths, and biopsies every 6 mths. I have asked my doctor if I should have kids now just in case I get cervical cancer. And he assures me that nothing is wrong.
Bottom line...I have it, and I love and trust my doctor, and he says not to worry. So I don't worry. Just go to the doctor as often as he/she wants you to.
Also, I've talked to 3 people about it and all 3 have it.

I do have HSV, and I know a lot of people who have it too. Does it make you feel better? I had HPV on my hands all my life, and nothing would help. Lately, I got some newest yiest injection and all went away besides one.
I don't know much about genital HPV though.

HPV is NOT an STD. It's a virus. The most common STD is PID...Pelvic inflammitory disease. Think you need to get your facts straight hun. If you want to know what HPV is, the I suggest speaking with a physician or the school nurse.

They say like 1 in 4 people have it. And in total like 80% of peolpe have had it at sometime in their life. Most people with hpv don't know they have it and their own immune system fights it off and it goes away after about 2 years.
KathyR: don't be such a C***B****, if she had her facts straight she wouldn't be asking a question.

Why don't you google HPV for the information. Also you should get tested for it and get treated if you have it. When and if you go to the doctor, ask her to tell you some stories about it.

I'm married and I'm positive my wife doesn't have HPV.
Being that I've seen her genital area up close and all kinds of personal. Hehe...
I know I'm deffinately NOT going to knock on my neighbors door and say "Hi! Do you have HPV?"
