im thinkin of a word that means "get carried away" i thought it was like tangents or tantrums.
like im trying to use it to describe my english teacher. She would start out talking about one subject. then find a topic thats vaguely related to it and talk about it for 5 minutes. and then after that shed find an even more off task topic and talk about it for like 3 minutes. then that discussion would lead to another topic and shed just go way off task and talk about random topics with no relevance to the topic we started with.
whats that called when u do that?

A tantrum is what i child does when s/he dosen't get what s/he wants and then trows a fit.

You are correct. It is an idiom: To go off on a tangent. It means exactly what you described....getting off topic and carried away.

I think TANGENT is the word you want. A TANTRUM is a mad or crying fit ("My baby sister throws a tantrum if she doesn't get her way.").
