to single it's consumption out for excessive taxation? How about the government regulating the private citizens place of usage? If I OWN a bar, I can't smoke in my own establishment? Now, they want to make it illegal to smoke in cars and apartments. Wouldn't it be more honest to just outlaw it, if it's such a danger and health hazard?

I believe this is all about taxation...just like Global Warming...what do you think?

I think you might be on to something! I'm afraid they're going to tax my Big Macs next because they're unhealthy. Where does this crap end and who's the god-like individual that gets to decide what's okay and what's not . . . trans-fats . . . seat belts . . . I mean, if I want to drive down the highway in my SUV, not wearing a seat-belt, cigarette in one hand & hamburger sandwiched between two Krispy Kreme's in the other . . . the America that I want to live in would say . . . "you go girl!!!"

Well, I don't smoke and I think you are right. The reason this is done is for $$$$. And political correctness. It's common to tax segments of the population: beer, liquor etc., luxury tax as people will be OK with taxes on the "other guy" instead of general taxes.

I don't think people should smoke ANYWHERE because some people really need smoke free air - asthma etc. But it's like a witch hunt. Bandwagonism if you will. Why not tax fat people or people that don't exercise they both are unhealthy too.

Smoking is legal and smokers should not be made to go home to smoke. Many accommodations have been made to non-smokers (like me) but were will it end?

You're welcome to poison yourself. You have no right to poison your customers or employees. Thats the gist of it.

Children are expecially at risk (not so much in bars but very much so in cars) and can't defend themselves.

Nobody's telling you not to chew tobacco, just be careful where you spit.

We all have bad habits (myself included) but we shouldn't force these on others. Breathing is a more primary right than smoking.

Freedom does not mean doing anything you want, freedom means allowing others to do what they want.
