Ah, the ultimate paradox. We fight to maintain the relatively short time we have here in this life, yet we are dealth with such hardships that make us appreciate the time we do have on this earth. Without such pain and suffering, we would have nothing to gauge what is truly good and benefiicial for us as individuals.

it's interesting how people answered this question on individual level. worker bee may be well off but not happy to see the powerless get exploited left and right and he can't do much about that. true happiness is only possible when no one is being hurt and suffering! life is precious to an ant too but we tend to even purposely step on them. at least the worker bee has a means to defend itself. the big fish eats the small fish, but that is for survival. human being kills the elephant for it's ivory and luxury. we treat each other the same way and justify our cruelty, IE; survival of the fetus, etc. we are the worst thing that could have happened to mother nature! our greed may destroy us before we evolve to the highest level of humanity! peace

I honestly think that what the embodiment of your name- the WORKER BEE- is the singular most important member of our society.

The working man - bred by countless genetic permutations, ever useful, but often undervalued and treated unkindly by the lecherous corporate thieves who simply use him up and toss him and bleed him dry.

If the question that you have asked is a reflection on the plight of the working man, I will agree.

Workers are so precious, yet work these days is a *beach* (purposely misspelled) Are there rewards? What rewards, you ask? What about the workplace?

Life is so precious because we only live it once
Life is so cruel because in the one life we live everyone will do anything to get to the top, to immortalize their name.

life is precious in that you are able to see things, breathe the air, feel good about things, and you can experience touch, smell, senses ect, it is cruel in that you do not get the chance to experience it forever unless you are saved and it is filled mostly with hard times and lost opportunity

Is it a rhetorical question?
Firstly, you say life is precious and I agree. But it is I who take another's life and blame on 'life'.
I do not agree that life is cruel.
Man(also woman) is cruel but not life. Our choices are cruel and our society(of beings) is cruel but not life.
It is compassionate and giver.
Our choices are cruel - who we want to be and what we want to do are cruel.

It's cuz God gave you the gift of life and Adam and Eve ruined life by eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge. Or, you could always blame it on Pandora from Pandora's box.
