Genies, Dijinns and Afrits are creatures of Eastern Mythology. They are creatures of pure energy with intelligence and free will and listed according to their rank or power. The Dijinn is more powerful than the Genie and the Afrit is the most powerful of the three.
They are usually trapped in a vessel such as a bottle and reputed to grant whoever frees them one to three wishes. However, these creatures are evil and not to be trusted. They will grant your wish in a manner that renders it useless to you.
According to some contemporary Western sci-fi literature, genies are demons who are locked away in a bottle as punishment for violation of some demonic protocol. Certainly, the classical description of a Genie, to-wit: a spiritual creature of pure energy with intelligence & free will mirrors that of a demon.
Best.

They are living lives that are in a parallel dimension to ours. They can be evil or good just as we can be. Satan comes from that race, according to the arabic tradition. One can have a Jinn wife, and have Jinn children, even in this day and age. Of course if you're a woman, and have a Jinn husband, you can't have another one here. But if you're a man, and have a Jinn wife, you can be married to another wife here too. I once knew a man that had Jinn half siblings:) You can look up and see things on You Tube about these creatures.

Genie is the English term for the Arabic جÙÙ (jinnie). The word “jinn” literally means anything which has the connotation of concealment, invisibility, seclusion, and remoteness. In pre-Islamic Arabian mythology and in Islamic Culture, a jinni (also “djinni” or “djini”) is a member of the jinn (or “djinn”), generally thought to be a race of supernatural creatures.
Arabic
Genie is the usual English translation of the Arabic term jinni, but it is not directly an Anglicized form of the Arabic word, as is commonly thought. The English word comes from French génie, which meant a spirit of any kind, which in turn came from Latin genius, which meant a sort of tutelary or guardian spirit thought to be assigned to each person at birth. The Latin word predates the Arabic word jinni in this context, and may have been introduced in the Arabian civilization through the Nabataeans. The root however, and its concept of being "hidden" or "concealed" still comes from the Semitic root "GNN", which is originally from Paleo-Hebrew, and from which the Greek word Genesis and the Arabic Jannah (garden or paradise) is derived.
Arabic lexicons, such as Taj-il Uroos, and William Lane's lexicon provide the rendered meaning of Jinn not only for spirits, but also for anything concealed through time, status and even physical darkness. A classical Arabic use of the term Jinn is as follows:
ÙÙÙا جÙÙÙ٠بÙاÙÙبÙغÙضÙآء٠ÙÙاÙÙÙÙظÙر٠اÙØ´ÙÙزÙرÙ
And there is no concealment with vehement hatred and the looking with aversion.

Jinns are a Muslim legend. They're a spirit capable of assuming human or animal form--like skin walkers. They can also exercise supernatural influence over people--Like televangelists and some Imams. (I just had to add that last. It's the pepper that goes with the answers salt.)

Djins mean genies and all they are are self created spirits that can proform favors and can influnence people to act or think a certain way and even posses people to gain control over them! Djins can be good or evil and will appear in the form that you belive they will appear as which can be a woman, god, demon, animal or what ever! They reflect the personality of the person who created them. If you are intrested in learning how to create a djin get the book how to create entities. Or if you are refering to voodoo djins then its different. Voodoo djins are spirits thats been created by element energy instead of personal energy and can play tricks on its creater.
