A cat is property and stealing is stealing. Proving it was stolen might be difficult.

Though it may seem inadequate to describe what has happened, A pet is property and if it is stolen that is theft. The issue will be finding your cat and proving it is your cat since cats dont normally come with Identification numbers.

Secondly, was your cat stolen because some admired it or despised it; if someone has stolen and destroyed your cat, their may be further cause for prosecution for cruelty. Also, if you can prove your case you may be able to sue for not only actual damages but punitive damages.

Yes, pets are property. So, if someone stole your cat, it is against the law.

Yes, what do you think? It is technically your property.

How do you know it's not lost, or, sadly, dead.

I have read in Cat books that if a cat finds another family that treats them better than the former one, they will move in with that new family. Pretty smart and opportunist like, unlike dogs that are obedient to their master like a robot.

Yes. A pet is considered property - just like the tv.

If you know who it was, go get your baby. I have a lot of tolerance, but for pet (baby) stealing is where I draw the line.
