Musonda, it is my personal belief that marriage is more of a want than a need. Although we as human animals almost always have the need to feel wanted, needed and loved, this does not necessarily mean that we have to marry to receive this feeling. Marriage is unique to us as other animals do not marry, and the majority do not remain faithful to one of their own. But we as supposing to be at the top of the food chain somehow have craved this need and so have adopted it as a norm.

That depends. Marriage is union between a man and a woman and the two shall become one. It's in the bible... But to others I think it's a need. Sometimes wthey get married so that somebody can take care of them. Others do get married because of financial stability they found to the other.

My boyfriend and I have talked about getting married, and for me it is definitely a "want". Although I guess it could be considered a need in some ways because I would feel empty without him. So my final answer is that it is a balance between the two.

I think it depends on the individual. There are some people that have to be married to make them feel as though they have done something right in their life and there are some that just really want to because they want a family.

Like most things, it is a want. The only things you "need" are food, shelter and water for physical survival. Phychological needs (like love and belonging) are not really needs but wants.
But ask yourself, how many things that you do are really wants? Probably about 90% of the things you do are wants. Dont they make life better?

I think it's a want. It's become so commonplace to remain single and it is also possible to support yourself without another person. It's also possible to be with someone and remain not married. This generation is so open about most things, being unwed is no longer a shocking statistic..

marriage is not a need. there are some people who dont want to get married they just want to be single and there are some people that dont see the need for marriage they just want to be with someone and not be legally married. it all depends on wat u want. it might depend on ur religion, family or anything. you might not want to get married and then you meet that special person and you change ur mind

A happy and full filled person, by default is complete and doesn't need a partner, or get married. So they don't need it or want it, they do it if it happens.
