hi. i just bought a 30 gb ipod on ebay. when i received it, the battery icon looked about half-full. i listened to music for 1/2 hour. then it was in the red. later, i charged it for about 3 1/2 hours. the battery icon was about half-full after this. is this normal? the seller did say that this ipod has not been used for about 2 months. would that be an effect? and how long should it take me to charge this thing?? thanks a lot -kt

Maybe the settings are up too high. On the iPod, go to Settings > Brightness. Then put it on the lowest brightness (because you really don't need it up so high, especially when you're inside). Also, if you're just listening to music and not playing around with the iPod, go to Settings > Backlight Timer, and click 2 seconds or 5 seconds - that way it's not on the whole time.

Both of those things REALLY drain your battery quick! So does playing games!

My Nano wasn't used for about 2 months and it charged up to full OK. One other thing is how are you charging it, with an external charger or off the USB port? I had problems with a cheap (walmart) external charger that wouldn't charge up the Ipod to full and a bad USB hub that I had problems charging the Ipod & a Samsung MP3 player.

If the battery icon won't go above 1/2 then my friend you got boned. BTW if it is the model with the hard disc then it will suck down the battery faster than a memory style MP3 player.

I don't think not using an iPodfor 2 months will affect the iPod, but maybe the backlight was set to always on, I heard that takes up more battery.
