Well, I have good system specs on my computer like 2 GB's of RAM and 600 GB's of HDD Memory. The only question is that I want to upgrade to Vista Ultimate. Is this a good idea? It seems much better than XP security wise, but if not, I already have a good Vista GUI emulator so it looks exactly like Vista, just a little more memory added to it. What should I do?! Thanks!

Stick with XP until they've sorted all the bugs in Vista....about a year! :)

Depends. Do you need to be using programs that are not yet compatible with Vista? How old is your hardware? Can you get used to the new OS?

To be sure, first check the site for all your hardware and make sure that there are drivers available for Vista. Secondly, make sure you get the right version of Vista unless you're made of money. You may not need all the features included in the Ultimate version. A good way to get the real look and feel of Vista is to go to a school, library, friend or something who has it installed, check it out. If you like it, than you should upgrade.

If you want a personal opinion, I actually upgraded to Vista, but than formatted my drive and put XP on again because I just didn't like Vista. It was a little bit TOO secure. If you are an adventorous spirit, try Ubuntu, a flavor of Linux. It is more stable than any version of Windows, and with apps like Beryl and Compufiz, it looks better too.

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

Windows Vista is having a lot of problems. I wish Microsoft would transfer the Aero and Flip effects on Windows XP SP3.

I'm having enough trouble just getting used to Vista Home.

If you have a good antivirus program and antispyware, and are careful where you surf, why get Vista Ultimate? The best security is you. No amount of computer security will keep you safe if you take chances.

Xp is the right way to go until Sp1 comes out to adress the driver issues.
