I'm continuing this question I had, because I haven't figured out.

I have gotten rid of a few virus, and spyware/malware stuff. Spybot, Adaware, and AVG have done their part. I installed Eusing registry cleaner ... and it cleaned it up good.

I had this problem before I did these things, it's the only thing I haven't figured out the remedy to. Ok, it's freezing at startup. IT was freezing both at start, and at shutdown. Now, I have run those programs and PC-Doctor 5 and it didn't show anything wrong with the graphics, motherboard, etc. I did all the tests.

What do I do next. How do I determine what it is next?

Thanks, I'll award an answer!

how much overall system RAM do you have and how large of a pagefile do you currently have? Both of these will hang your system up at startup for a moment or so if they are insufficient.

try the crucial memory scanner and see if it suggests you add memory, etc. They also give you an idea of prices

When a PC freezes at Startup, only two things come to mind -- a faulty PC or RAM overload. Let's eliminate the RAM overload to see if that does the job. Here is my checklist which I run through at least every two weeks.

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none — they run continuously in the background and use memory.
-----right-click on the desktop, select Properties
-----click the screensaver tab, on the left where it says "screensaver," select none.
-----click the desktop tab, for background, select none
2. Review your start menu – remove anything you don’t need on a daily basis — load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.
-----click Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu
-----click the Start Menu tab
-----select a program you do not want to load at Startup, then click remove.
-----Caution -- do not touch anything you are not sure of or you will mess up your computer royally.
3. From Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)
----- These actions will clear your computer’s cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/access/access-27210.html )
4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).
-----These can be found in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run — then type ipconfig renew
(that’s ipconfig space renew).
6. Optional: Speed vs Goodies — in the Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance, Settings — you can have visual effects or let Windows select the best options. I am using “Best Performance.” Your choice.
These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.

It will also help if you download two free programs: Ad-aware and Spybot .

delet all ur other virus programs bc they can be causeing the viruses if u get them from a bad sorce. Some are just bad all together. use AVG free addition only my computer guy who works for a big corrprit company that uses computers all day told me that was the best. If it still does that after u scanned ur computer their could be something else going on u should get someone to help u in that case.

You could try starting it in safe mode and then using msconfig eliminate 1-2 startup programs at a time and then restart computer. Keep doing this until you find what program is messing it up.
