You cannot remove Explorer completely from your computer. It is essential to it. There is a work around this. In your start menu find Default programs and open it. Scroll to Set Program Access and Computer Defaults and open it. Here you can set up Google to be the Default Browser, with access to Internet Explorer. Choose the Custom setting. It is the way it has to be done. Google works well but is prone to crashing, and has a hard time "getting along with the rest of the children", -other programs. Hope it helps.

First, you need to make sure that your firewall, spyware blocker, and virus blocker are up to date. I would recommend getting Spybot Search and Destroy in top of all of your other security needs, because Spybot scans for all forms of cookies, spyware, and viruses. After that, you need to run a scan of your entire computer using each of these programs (one at a time though, because they slow down your computer). A few days later, run it again. If onestepsearch.net does not go away (although it should by that point), then you need to either hire someone to manually remove the virus, or wipe your entire hard-drive.

have you tried avg it is free
also there is spybot search and distroy
I am having the same problem,my husbnad told me to do this. and the reason why it keeps coming back is cause just uninstalling from the control panel does not remove everything. I have norton but it seems not that good of a program. I am fixing to tell juno to cancel that program. avg and spybot seem to be good and free.
also there is a free adware program that is free,
I wil test it and see what happens and let you know.
email me at kimberly2912_2000@yahoo.com and tell me what happens to ok. my husband is good with computers but i'm still learning.

Suggest you run your antivirus program in Safe Mode. This way, hopefully, you will catch any self-executable files.
While in Safe Mode, see if you can get into the Control Panel, Add/Remove - and remove it from there.
If you do catch it, run a full scan to be safe.
You might also want to download a freebie which is pretty good:

It looks like a browser hijack. Get a anti spyware program like adaware (free) and run a full scan. And next time look carefully the small letters when you installing a program from the internet.
