16. We tried 17 for the world record. It was tragic. Little pieces of wings and pixie dust everywhere.

None, fairies don't dance anywhere except the forest. Angels don't dance at all. Elves are too big to dance on the head of a paper clip. Ghosts and poltergeists just love to dance on paper clips, the head of a pin, lead for mechanical pencils and those little white circular things that you fix torn notebook paper holes with. Unfortunately their are invisible and therefore impossible to count. Sorry.

There are many variables to be taken into consideration before answering this question, such as:
How big is the paper clip, the number of fairies on the said paperclip, the kind of dance they are doing, and of course the number of fairies. As you don't provide us with adequate information, we can not accurately answer this question, therefore it will remain unsolvable.

I think it depends upon who's fairy/pixie stories you're reading. often it seems certain story tellers make these small beings seem heavier or tiny as fits the theme of the story.
But If I were to guess I would say perhaps one or two could possibly pirouette or stand one one large sized paper clip.
