I have never heard of that before. Most states make the divorcing couple go through some kind of counseling first though. You can call an attorney's office and inquire if you don't already have one in retainer. In Indiana a divorce usually takes about 90 days if uncontested(that is just how long it takes to go through the court process) I'm sure it varies from state to state.

No-- who told you that?

Every state has different divorce laws. The ones that claim you need to be separated (usually for something like 3-6 months) only mean that you're not sleeping together anymore. You can be "separated" but still living together at the same address.

Depends on the State you live in. I suggest you look through the yellow pages in your area for a lawyer that deals in divorce and call there office. They usually answer these type of questions for free. Many will even give you a free consultation.

That is usually the case. You would need to have a formal separation agreement, or you could file under 'abandonment'. But I think that it depends on the state or country that you are in.. And if there are really serious problems in your marriage, the judge may throw out the waiting period... but only extremely serious situations, like abuse and emotional trauma.

I don't think so. But maybe it depends on where you live. Like, I heard that in MN you have to be divorced 6 months before you can re-marry. But not so much in SD.
