If the item is washable, put white vinegar in washer with
the detergent, agitate a few minutes, then let soak for an
hour or more. The musty smell will fanish. I suggest you
use at least a cup of white vinager depending on how large
the load is.

Well, you can try rewashing your clothes , and when its time for Rinse use some good smelling fabric softner about 21/2 cups full to really terminate that mildew odor. I tried it before my clothes smell fresh. I left my clothes in the washer too long for overnight, and that morning it was mildew. You have to rewash it and start the procedure over. Try It ! Good Luck to you.... Bye

Try soaking them in a warm water instead of hot (hot can shrink or cause colors to bleed--check the label on your towels). Put a half cup of Bac-Out (made by Biokleen) in with your regular detergent. Let it soak for a few hours then rinse and dry (right away of course). Also try using Method softener infused dryer cloths in the dryer too (they smell wonderful -- I prefer the lavender and juniper scent).

Wash in as hot water as possible, add a detergent booster to the load (like Oxy-clean), then add vinegar to the final rinse (you can put it in where you would ad your liquid fabric softener. Then dry until completely dry or the smell will come back. I PROMISE this works.

I agree with the first poster- white vinegar in the wash! I have been doing laundry for 35 years and vinegar works like a charm. I have used it when cleaning up after flooding and it works. It is cheap to boot- can't beat that!

Make a paste of salt and lemon juice and rub into the clothing. Dry them in the sun. Repeat if needed.

I bought some bathroom mildew remover and spayed it, let it set an hour and washed it. It worked for me. You could also use lemon juice and salt and put it in the sun.
