x = first even integer
x + 2 = second even integer
x + 4 = third even integer

Add the expressions above (sum of ....)
x + x+2 x+4 = 18
Combine similar terms:
3x + 6 = 18
Subtract both sides of the equation by 6:
3x = 12
Divide both sides of the equation by 3
x = 4 (first even integer)
x + 2 = 6 (second even integer)
x + 4 = 8 (third even integer)

let: n1= x+1
n2= x+2
n3= x+3

n1+n2+n3=18
x+1+x+2+x+3=18
3x+6=18
3x=18-6
3x=12 divide both sides by 3 to get the value of x
x=4 :)

you know that 3 numbers are consecutive.
the 3 numbers add up to 18.
so, n+n+1+n+2 = 18. n is the lowest number. add one to get the next number. add one more, or n+2 to get the largest number.
This is the same as 3n+3=18
