okay so i go to a catholic school & im a transfer student.. i missed 20 days of school not at the same time but.. they were all excused by the doctor.. the dean of attendance told the teachers to count the last 2 weeks as unexcused and give me 0's for that work.. later they had a board meeting about me and i eventually got kicked out... is this even legal? since it doesn't say anything about any number of days you can miss in our agenda books or anything like that & especially since they were excused... please give me answers!!!

oh and it wasn't exactly because of attendance it was also because of my "failing grades" which wouldn't be failing if she hadn't told the teachers to count the work i missed as 0's which she technically isn't allowed to do because they're excused.. even my doctor thinks so.. i don't know what to do.. i really want to go back to that school but i don't know how to get them to reconsider. i really need help

My brother was called into the Asst. Principal's office in tenth grade. He had missed 87 days that year. The AP said that he had set a record for the most unexcused days ever. It the record would grow. He got suspended for the rest of the year.
You cannot blow off school and get away with it. Heck, if I wanted to skip school, I would pick a fight with my dad and leave the house for where ever. When the school called his guilt kicked in and said I was ill. I was always a little more clever then my brother.

I think you answered your own question in the first line. You go to a private school. At private school, they can make up the rules as they go along if they want to. 20 missed days not all at once is 2 more than you could miss in a year at my public high school. If they had been all at once or due to a common event (accident or injury) then I think things would be different. It sounds like you have a problem with attendance. You said you had medical excuses. Maybe you just need to go to school even if you don't feel like it instead of going to the doctor.

I have to agree with the school, 20 days missed is too many.

It is a Catholic school, so they can almost do anything they want. You may have an argument based on their failure to follow their own procedures. Consult an educational lawyer -- but really, what's the point? You won't want to go to school at a place which kicked you out and doesn't want you there -- they will make it hell for you.
