This boils down to YOU.
You are never to old to learn.
I am 60 and have developed several web sites and work as an independent . If you are planning on using it as a job change this will be up to you.
You know how good or bad you are at it.
Bare in mind as was already mentioned there are several young ones out there and as was mentioned as well most aren't that hot. You can learn anything and everything you need, from the library, or Google Step by Step.
This field is overwhelmed with folks.
Also remember in this day and age there are certifications for all of the lanquages and tech spec's. In other words these companies want to hire people that have already been certified, so they don't have to pay for the school.
If you want to do it and your good at it the only thing stopping you is YOU. Don't let someone else make your decision.

You're not too old! I know people that have learned web developing in their 60's. It's a challenge for anyone at any age. If you apply yourself you can do anything!

In the list I think you mean mysql. There is no age problem with this, but it will take quite a while to learn enough of all these to be useful.

At 54 you would be to thorough. You would get stressed out trying to get the web to work properly. Young bucks wouldnt worry if their stuff only half worked as they dont care.
You be better learning how to fix their stuff ups hehe

It is not too old at all for you to make a career change. I would recommend obtaining a degree or professional certification to make entry to your new career a bit easier.

go for it mate! Some employers might be fussy, but that shouldn't stop you from doing the job if you are good at it.

If you are ready to crawl into the box and be lowered into the hole, I guess you are too old. It is up to you.
