I'm serious, it seems like everybody in the world (with the exception of the U.S. and to a lesser extent the U.K.) hates Israel. Why?

Because of how modern Israel came to be: they basically forced their way onto land which the Palestinians had lived on for nearly 2000 years, and then forced the Palestinians into cramped, miserable living conditions. As an American, try to imagine how you would feel if Native Americans all banded together and decided to take back the land which America robbed them of, and then forced all non-Native Americans into refugee camps. It has been less than 300 years since Manifest Destiny kicked into full effect in this country, but I don't imagine you would be too understanding of the Native Americans' motives -- imagine how the Palestinians (and subsequently their fellow, Arab neighbors) felt after almost 2000 years.

Same reason most people would not be tolerant of a country that called itself the Lutheran State or the Black state, or the Blond State, and denied rights to those who didn't qualify.
It's creation was a reaction of guilt for all the Europeans and Americans who denied that the Holocaust was happening, and ironically, don't see the human rights tragedy occuring in Israel now.

You know, I really don't get it other than a strategic position in the Middle East, but then why do we need bases in Iraq? The other puzzling thing is from a religious point of view the Jews unlike American Christians do not believe in Jesus. It seems like the religious right to include their latest profit George W. Bush have an unseemly interest in Israel. Its all very puzzling.
