I know it has to do with friction and heat and what not, but I'm wondering about the color of light on this. See, I put two pieces of tape together, and, in the dark, I pulled them apart. They produced a blue band of light at the point where they were being pulled apart. Why is the color of that blue?

It has to do with the gas make up of the air which is 70% nitrogen. If you could do the same experiment in a room or enclosed container filled with a different gas you would see a different color
