My health insurance company is forcing me away from my regular pharmacist, by increasing the cost of my prescription every month. It's now up to $50, and it started at $10. They offered me an online pharmacy, which will charge me $35. Does anyone know of another site that would charge less for Yaz birth control?

I use it for PMDD (hormone control) and the birth control part is secondary. I've been advised by my doctor to pay whatever I have to pay in order to stick with Yaz, she doesn't want me going to another brand...and I don't think they make a generic.

Yaz is one of the most expensive birth control pills out there. $50 is close to its cash price. Yaz is the only birth control which has the indication for PMDD. That does not mean the other birth control medications don't work. They just haven't tested them yet. Some doctors get very hung up about brands and don't realize that there is not intrinsic reason why other birth control medications cannot work.
I wouldn't buy them online because there is no guarantee they are real.

My insurance doesn't cover Yaz either. So every few months I call my gynecologist's office and ask for a few samples, they know it's not cheap so they happily give me enough for 3 or 4 months. If your office doesn't offer samples then I would try Wal-Mart. Their pharmacy offers insanely low discounts on all prescriptions, even oral contraceptives.
