The Mormon Trail was the path taken by the followers of Brigham Young as they were persecuted for the beliefes and chased out of other areas. It ended at the Great Salt Lake.

I think it's that the Mormon trail parallels the Oregon trail, except where they end. The Mormon trail ends in Salt Lake.
