for a terse and brief answer, i would say women were viewed more inferior back then than today. but women nowadays are not as modest as before.
Their roles have def. changed, especially after world war 2. before women were expected to take care of the children and duties in the house. But when the war started and men were drafted, women were left taking care of the men's roles too, such as businesses and jobs.

A woman's role 100 years ago was to marry, breed, cook, clean, and be happy that she didn't have to do anything else. Today, women have the option of doing this, and while some still take it, others choose entirely different roles. Two women here are housewives; one works in construction; one is in the Navy; one works in IT; and I'm getting my communications degree. There wasn't such variety back in the day.

The back breaking chores women did were largely confined to those who were poorer. Women from wealthier families often had much easier lives because they could have an entire staff of people to do all those chores for them, including raising their children.

I think one dramatic change is that women are able to decide whether or not they want children, hold high positions in the work place, and decide not to marry without being an old hag.

Basically women are able to make more decision for themselves without being thrown into a decision made for them by the society at the time.

Generally women's role a hundred years back is to take care of the child, cook, clean, sweep, and all other domestic affairs.

Now women can be anything they want to be, but limitations still exist as it takes a long time to break down biases

Here is my answer:

There are two lines going to Heaven:

There is a sign in the 1st line that says,

Women rule the world

There is a sign in the 2nd line that says,

Men rule the world

All the men in the world were in the first line except one little old man. So and angel comes and asks, why is every man in the world in the 1st line and you are the only one in the 2nd line that says, Men rule the World

The old man lifts his old gray head and says,

My wife told me to be here>

The End

I hope this helps.

Back then
cook
have 25 kids
fix husbands plate and sat it in front of him on table
bathe and wipe husband's butt during old age because he was spoiled all his life which resulted into a spoiled brain.

Now.
Women can be on there own
everything else still applies.

to me they were mens slaves, that's what they want to a point. someone to just sit at home and wait for them to need them for something, or they stay on them to get a job, and don't give up till they do. if they didn't want the woman to spend any of their money then they shouldn't have married them and they wonder why they become unhappy?

hmm, 100 years ago, that would be 1907..

I think women were slaves to men back then!... because they were;
* doing chores
* housework
* back breaking labour
* having like 15 kids while washing dishes
* educated to work in the house and raise kids.

now...women own men!
:D

women's roles, at least in north america, we limited to the private sphere. they had no significant influence in the public sphere.
