I've heard stories that Disk Defragmenting can destroy your unit itself. How possible is that?
In my case almost every week/month i'm using it but it's not happening, thus my unit slows down. My other questions are why and how?

Very (times a lot) unlikely, in fact, unless your computer is incredibly fragmented defragmenting will probably not speed up your computer. Maybe make it less likely to loose files.

If your computer is getting slower and slower look else where for the cause. Do all the common things first: Virus scan, adware scan, try an on-line scan, maybe even a reg. cleaner.

Good luck . . . digital world is great isn't it!

The defragmenter does its job best when its not interrupted by any other program while running, hence its best to run it in safe mode. The risk probably is if the power goes off while the defrag is taking place since its essentially moving file fragments around to put them together.

It won't harm your computer, files, or anything else. It comes on your computer for a reason. It only compresses files so your hard drive can run faster. Use it. Don't be afraid.

It is possible, but not likely. You need to run it, just make sure you backup the computer first.
