I recently bought an electric wall oven but I do not know if it uses 220v or 110v. The manual doesn't say, however, it says do not use less than 20 amps. I have no idea what that means. Please help. thank you

if you cannot find the nameplate on the oven that gives you the voltage and amps ...Get an electrician to check your unit and hook it up....most ovens are 230 volt and are usually require 30 40 or 50 amp breakers depending on the wattage of the heating element...

First double check for a nameplate, it may only be a 2"x1" silver plate inscribed but by law it should be there. Now unless the unit is gas, if it was it would just be a normal 3 prong plug, just plug it in to a normal grounded 120v 20A plug. Does it have a plug? 2 horizontal blades and a ground pin is a 240volt plug, if just one or neither is horizontal then it is 120 Most likely. From what you have written here it will most likely be a 240volt 20amp unit, usually you are safe with the recomended 20amp breaker in this case a 2 pole 20 amp breaker sounds right. If it is replacing an existing unit make sure the wiring is at least a #12awg and is on the proper breaker DO NOT OVERSIZE IT. If you are going to run a new line it must be a 3 wire by code, neutral conductor must be isolated from ground. If you have any doubts contact a licenced electrician, there cheaper than a fire would be.

There should be a plate either inside the door or on the back telling you the voltage, amps, wattage.I am sure its 240v,I have seen some as small as 20amp on up to 50amp at 240v.It probaly didn't come with a cord and plug, they are usually hard wired. If it does not list the amps on the name plate,it should have the wattage and you divide that by 240 to get the amps.Hope this helps

ok a 110 volt unit will have a regular plug on it, a 220 will have one that has a weird shape plug on it, [to keep you from pluging it into a 110 out let, most ovens are 220 volt, do not use less than 20 amp curciut, tells me that its a 220v, that means the curciut, [breaker] has to be 20 amps or more,

wall oven, do you mean built in?
most ovens are 50 amp units 220 volts
the over should have some sort of plate describing voltage and
amps used, usually in the back where the connections ( usually hard wired )
