Salt increases the boiling point of water and also lowers the freezing point (hence why they salt roads in winter). Salt also increases the conductivity of the water, making it better to allow electricity to flow through.

salt does not effect water !

Sea water contains salt, fresh water does not !

the specific gravity changes so things float more.
freezing and boiling points also change.
