find a number both the numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number) are divisible by (can be divided by evenly)
start with two since both numbers are even
48/2 = 24, 66/2=33,
now you have 24/33, both numbers are divisible by 3
24/3=8, 33/3 = 11,
now you have 8/11

8/11 all you have to do is divide both numbers by a common factor which is 6. Which means 48/6 and 66/6 which leaves you with 8/11.
