My period ended a week ago. And it started again right now. And then the last time, I got my period 3 weeks after it ended. Whats wrong? What can be the problem? What should I do? Will a simple blood test determine if something is wrong with me?

What can cause irregular periods?

1. Recent miscarriage or abortion. Probably not a factor for you.
2. Recent loss or gain of 10 or more pounds. This effects your hormones.
3. Illness. This can include a hormonal imbalance, or a condition such as hypothyroidism.
4. Age. Often a girl's periods take up to 3 years to become regular after she starts.
5. Medications. Especially stopping/starting birth control.
6. Vigorous exercise. Affects your hormones.
7. Stress! Even everyday stress can affect your periods.
8. Interestingly, if you are around the same other females daily (such as in a classroom), your periods will start when theirs do. If half the class started 2 weeks ago and the other half just started today, their hormones may cause your own cycle to go awry. (I'm in a classroom every day. I know this.)
9. Sexually transmitted diseases can affect your period. (I hope this isn't a factor for you.)

You don't mention whether this has happened before. If it has not, and if you are not pregnant, you may have no cause for worry; some womens' cycles may become irregular due to the above factors or, sometimes, due to no detectable factor!

If you're having significant abdominal pain or if the bleeding is unusually heavy, you may want to talk to a physician/gynecologist. Otherwise, most doctors will either offer to put you on birth control or simply tell you, "wait 6 months and see if it straightens out."

It probably is just irregularity and nothing to really worry about. I've had my period come for four days, stop for three and come back for another nine. It should come back about 3 weeks after it ends. That should be the regular time span between the ending and the beginning. It's supposed to be 28 days from the day it starts to the day the next one starts. I know I'm still very irregular after almost 7 years of having my period. If you really do want to make sure there is no problem, you should probably talk to a gynecolegist or your regular physician. I hope you get everything figured out!!!

Stressing about something (whether good or bad) can cause some bleeding to occur as well as infection such as with the cervix.

There are a few other possibilities that could play in to this but I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation. They may run some blood tests such as for thyroid depending on what they find out from your history with this bleeding as well because sometimes a thyroid problem can cause bleeding to occur as well.

medicine has too many area outcomes. ordinary menstrual cycles frequently ensue as a results of rigidity. so which you may do away with the strain, make the effort for your self to discern issues out, circulate out and function relaxing. as quickly because of the fact the strain is long gone, the menstrual cycle would be popular lower back.

a simple blood test is not enough, there are other test to be done to know what's the major problem.
